Malcolm began his interest in visual artistic expression as a printmaker, using the intaglio method.
Into this media he chaneled a fascination with tesselated design, an art form that uses tiling techniques producing unusually subtle geometric and patterning effects.
He has also experimented with grid-based designs of a less strict geometrical nature.

In 2006 Malcom began to use his intaglio engraving tools on stones and slates, further enhancing the works with acrylic and enamel painting and occasionally copper inlay.
His subject matter also expanded into semi-botanical wild flower designs and reproductions of medieval artwork amongst many other things, all 'dictated' by the natural media itself and by the varied orders he receives for, well, just about anything.

Malcolm’s pieces nearly always reflect and carry his love of geometry at some level.

Most of the larger pieces are mounted on oak logs to produce finished works of a highly natural character.
The combined effect of the media and the principles and techniques employed has a breathtaking originality, flow and style.

In the last two years Malcolm has taken up carved lettering techniques as a result of regular orders for house signs, pet memorials and other functional pieces.

He lives and works in Presteigne on the Welsh border.

Malcolm shares the following website with Denise Vickers & Carol Du Cille
